Golden Shoulders : Get Reasonable

From Nevada City, California come rotating collective Golden Shoulders with their third album 'Get Reasonable'. This album's sound hangs heavy with the influence of early to mid 70s Beach Boys (their best period btw), Big Star and CSNY and even a good measure of Southern rock. To the lazy listener this might position them in the same Amazon style recommendation list as Fleet Foxes - but they have a healthy amount of oddness, quirk and bite to keep them out of the MOR spotlight. Check 'Mountain' for a taste.

Dragon Turtle : Almanac

Dragon Turtle are Brian Lightbody and Tom Asselin, two musical souls split between Brooklyn and rural Northeastern PA. While Lightbody lives in the city as the band's creative director and musician, Asselin works on a tree farm and operates the band's One Forest studio. Their conflicting environments are reflected in their music as ambient folk meets dark refracted noise, aimed at contemplating natural dualities within the universe. Their debut album 'Almanac' is out now.

Pascal Barbare : Ceremony

Not many Australian teenagers can claim to be Brian Wilson's pen pal and the son of a Melbourne Symphony Orchestra ex-gangster. Pascal Babare can. He releases his debut album 'Thunderclap Spring' on 23rd November through Tokyo and London based indie blackmaps. It includes an introspective cover of Joy Division's 'Ceremony', which you may sample below.
